Installation ------------ To install from the original CD insert the disc, or mount an ISO image, and download the Arx Fatalis 1.21 patch (ArxFatalis_1.21_EN.exe), then launch the included Install_CD script. To install the GOG version, simply put the installer (the current version is setup_arx_fatalis_2.0.0.7.exe) into the drawer and start the Install_GOG script. Once it's finished, you should have the following files extracted into the drawer: data.pak data2.pak LOC.pak SFX.pak SPEECH.pak graph\interface\misc\Arkane.bmp graph\interface\misc\quit1.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\FIXINTER_BARREL.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\fixinter_bell.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\FIXINTER_METAL_DOOR.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\fixinter_public_notice.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\item_bread.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\ITEM_CLUB.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\ITEM_LONG_SWORD.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\ITEM_MAULDSWORD.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\ITEM_MAULD_SABRE.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\ITEM_MIRROR.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\item_ring_casting.BMP graph\obj3d\textures\item_rope.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\ITEM_SPELL_SHEET.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\ITEM_TORCH.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\ITEM_TORCH2.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\item_zohark.BMP graph\obj3d\textures\L7_DWARF_[WOOD]_BOARD08.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\L7_DWARF_[WOOD]_BOARD80.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\npc_dog.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\npc_pig.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\npc_pig_dirty.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\npc_rat_base.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\npc_rat_base_cm.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\NPC_WORM_BODY_PART1.jpg graph\obj3d\textures\npc_worm_body_part2.bmp graph\obj3d\textures\[WOOD]_LIGHT_DOOR.jpg misc\Arx.ttf misc\arx_default.ttf misc\arx_russian.ttf misc\arx_taiwanese.ttf misc\logo.avi misc\Logo.bmp You can also copy these manually from an existing Arx Fatalis 1.21 installation. The game will extract the sound effects upon the first startup. This can take a couple minutes. Performance considerations -------------------------- Try to lower the Level of detail and Fog distance in the game options. TinyGL currently doesn't support the OpenGL fog, so the latter will only reduce the draw distance. Troubleshooting --------------- The game needs a lot of VRAM, so make sure you have plenty available for it: - Set your Ambient screen color depth to 16-bit. This will also force the game to 16-bit, it can reduce the VRAM usage dramatically. - Disable Enhanced mode and lower the resolution for the Ambient screen. - Lower the game's resolution in the vide options. - Lower the texture details in the game's render options. This can have a big impact. - Enable the texture compression in the game options. Please note that as of writing this the compressor in TinyGL has a bug that can produce rainbow colored artifacts. If you experience this then disable texture compression.
