Short: L'Abbaye des Morts -- ZX Spectrum tribute platformer Author: Locomalito & Gryzor87 (game), Nevat & Carsten Teibes (v2) Port: Papiosaur (papiosaur2 hotmail fr) Type: game/jump Version: 1.0 (port) -- Abbaye des Morts 2.0 engine Architecture: ppc-morphos Distribution: MorphOS-Storage (Games/Platform) URL: https://github.com/nevat/abbayedesmorts-gpl L'Abbaye des Morts for MorphOS ============================== Jean Raymond, a Cathar heretic fleeing his persecutors, takes refuge in an abandoned abbey. He soon discovers the place is anything but deserted. This is an unashamed ZX Spectrum tribute: four colours on screen, pixel perfect jumps, and traps you only learn by dying on them. The original was released in 2010; this version 2.0, rewritten in C with SDL2 by Nevat and Carsten Teibes, is its free software incarnation. The game is ENTIRELY FREE, data included (GPL v3). Nothing to buy, nothing to copy from a CD -- the drawer holds everything. Installation ------------ Copy the AbbayeDesMorts drawer anywhere you like and run AbbayeDesMorts. The game locates its data through PROGDIR:, so the location does not matter and it works equally well from Ambient or from the Shell. Controls -------- Arrows move Jean Space jump Esc quit F1 restart F4 toggle fullscreen Drawer contents --------------- AbbayeDesMorts the game data/ maps and enemy tables graphics/ backgrounds and sprites sounds/ music and sound effects COPYING GPL v3 licence Support support the porting work Porting notes ------------- Only three changes were needed; the rest of the original code is untouched: - assets are located through PROGDIR: instead of a Unix install path, so the drawer can be moved anywhere; - the program stack is raised to 1 MB: the game loop keeps its stage and enemy tables (~81 KB) in automatic storage, which overflows the few kilobytes granted by default when starting from Ambient; - -mno-altivec is enforced: with -mcpu=7450 alone, GCC emits vector instructions of its own accord, and those keep the binary from starting. Building: make -f Makefile.morphos Dependencies: SDL2, SDL2_image, SDL2_mixer (all part of the MorphOS SDK) Thanks ------ To Locomalito and Gryzor87 for the game, and to David "Nevat" Lara and Carsten Teibes for the free software 2.0 rewrite. MorphOS Team for MorphOS. BeWorld for the SDL2 port. Licence ------- Game and data under GPL v3 -- see COPYING. The port follows the same licence.
