============================================================================
7zdec 1.1 - .7z decompressor for MorphOS
============================================================================

INTRODUCTION
------------
7zdec lists, tests and extracts .7z archives from the shell. It is a port of
the reference decoder from the LZMA SDK 25.01, the source distribution behind
7-Zip itself, so the archives it reads are the ones 7-Zip writes.

It decompresses only. Creating an archive is not supported.

USAGE
-----
7zdec l <archive.7z> List the contents
7zdec t <archive.7z> Test the archive without writing anything
7zdec x <archive.7z> Extract, keeping the folder structure
7zdec e <archive.7z> Extract, ignoring the folder structure

-o<dir> Extract into <dir> rather than into the
current directory. Also accepted written
apart: -o <dir>

Examples:

7zdec l Downloads:sources.7z
7zdec x Downloads:sources.7z -o Work:build
7zdec e Downloads:photos.7z -oRam:

WHAT IT HANDLES
---------------
- LZMA and LZMA2, the usual methods in a .7z archive
- PPMd
- BCJ, BCJ2, ARM, ARMT, PPC, SPARC and IA64 filters, used on executables
- Delta filter
- Folder structure, restored on extraction (x)
- File dates, restored from the archive

Encrypted archives are not supported: the AES decoder is left out, so an
archive protected by a password is reported as an error rather than extracted
into garbage.

NOTES
-----
The archive is read in one pass and each file is written as it is decoded, so
memory use stays low whatever the archive size.

Paths follow AmigaDOS conventions, so a volume name works where a directory is
expected: -oRam: is valid.

HISTORY
-------
1.1 (06.08.2026)
- Each file now appears on its own line while it is being extracted, so the
list grows as the work goes on instead of arriving all at once at the end.
- Files are announced as "Extracting" and "Testing" rather than by a single
"-" or "T".
- The number of files and bytes written is shown once the archive is done.

1.0 (06.08.2026)
- First release.

LICENCE
-------
The LZMA SDK is written and placed in the PUBLIC DOMAIN by Igor Pavlov. Its
notice is included as LZMA-SDK-License.txt. This port adds nothing that
restricts it: use it as you see fit.

THANKS
------
To Igor Pavlov, for placing thirty years of compression work in the public
domain rather than keeping it.
